My name is Roxanne DeAngelis and I have done art throughout my life. It is so fun to capture a moment in a photo with an animal, or notice the first day a flower blooms, or see new PATTERNS in the sky. Sometimes life is hard WORK and there's SUFFERING and it can come out in a drawing. But other times it's full of happiness!!!! When I do art I am trying to make sense of the WORLD and looking to design, or create in new ways, My dad was a pilot and my mom loved art. I was lucky to meet many people when we moved around hurriedly lots of times growing up. It taught me how to adapt to new environments and situations. Artists love different!!! And color! We need to keep color alive. An artist learns the neutrals of BLACK,WHITE, TAN and GRAY go good with every other COLOR, so maybe color brings the WORLD together. Enjoy your visit seeing art here. Wishing you the best customer experience! 'Rocksand' :)
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
Van Gogh was my first artist I ever heard of when I was eight on the car radio. There was a song about him. My aunt, a self-taught artist, told me his story. Unknown artists inspire me, whether they are from a past civilization, or current. I also love Maxfield Parrish and MC Escher.. Museum visits influence me, along with students, people, math, science, sports and the natural world.
My favorite way to paint is with yarn. It's so colorful and you can layer it and show what an artist goes through when they paint. If you observe a flat oil or acrylic painting, there's layers under the surface that the viewer doesn't see. Calligraphy, needlepoint, photography, acrylic painting, pencil and charcoal are other forms of art I explored.
My background includes studying art at LA Pierce College,Woodland Hills, CA: AA Advertising Art; Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, CA; Freelance artist and calligrapher, Dallas, Texas; Indiana University BA in Fine Art, Ft. Wayne, IN; studying art in Singapore; USAF journalist and editor; and working as a certified Art Teacher in Florida.
